Summary:
Murchison is a trans-border field in the northern part of the North Sea, on the border between the Norwegian and UK sectors. The Norwegian share of the field was 22.2 per cent and production started in 1980, ceasing in 2014. The field is no longer in production.
Murchison was discovered in 1975, and the plan for development and operation was approved in 1976. The British and Norwegian licensees and authorities entered into an agreement in 1979 concerning common exploitation of the resources on the Murchison field.
Split:
The two Governments shall consult each other with a view to agreeing determinations of the limits of the Murchison Field Reservoir, of estimated total Reserves and of an apportionment of the Reserves as between the Continental Shelf appertaining to the United Kingdom and the Continental Shelf appertaining to the Kingdom of Norway.

Governance:
The Murchison Field Reservoir shall be exploited as a single unit.
The two Governments shall ensure that for the purposes of the exploitation, in accordance with this Agreement, of the Murchison Field Reservoir, a unit operator is appointed by agreement between the Licensees.
